WINNERS REVEALED: TR Awards Asia Pacific

Travel Retail Awards Asia Pacific 2023The winners of the consumer-voted 2023 Travel Retail Awards Asia Pacific are revealed today (11 April) in a virtual awards ceremony – simply click the video broadcast below to view the results.

Organised by TRBusiness and m1nd-set, the Travel Retail Awards are the industry’s first and only consumer-voted awards, where each entry has been voted for by thousands of travellers.

The Asia Pacific edition of the awards programme demonstrates the buying inclinations of consumers in the region, compared with their global counterparts.

This year, Asia Pacific consumers voted for their favourites across 19 categories, with an additional two main accolades as follows: Best Overall Product and Best Overall Airport.

On top of all those who have been crowned winners, a number of finalists have been awarded the highly recommended accolade (you can read more about the judging process below).

Congratulations to all those who are recognised in this year’s Travel Retail Awards Asia Pacific.

“After a hugely challenging few years, the industry is building back with international passenger traffic scaling up at airport terminals, on airlines, onboard cruises and ferries and at tax free downtown hotspots across the world, with pent-up demand for travel and spending unleashing to the benefit of retail operators and their partners alike,” said Luke Barras-Hill, TRBusiness Editorial Director.

“The recovery marks a new phase in the build-back of our industry. As such, there has never been a more important time to interpret evolving consumer behaviours – both online and in-store – and to act decisively to create new revenue streams and future-proof existing ones.”

TRBusiness encourages stakeholders to actively promote and utilise their ‘Voted by Shoppers’ Finalist, Winner and Highly Recommended awards logos.

According to research by m1nd-set, 22% of consumers are more likely to purchase a product with a ‘Voted by Shoppers’ finalist logo on display and over 30% are more likely to purchase with the winner’s logo on display.

The judging process

All entries from the 2022 Global Travel Retail Awards were automatically entered into the 2023 Asia Pacific Travel Retail Awards.

Judging for the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Awards follows a five-step process and takes up to two months to complete.

Firstly, product entries, and nominations are submitted. All brand entries are collated by TRBusiness in the UK, ready for the second stage of the process.

Next, m1nd-set uses a digital platform to gain influential feedback from their assembled pool of 2,000 international travelling consumers from the Asia Pacific region with a wide variety of personal product preferences. Consumers score the products based on how they would assess them if they were in a travel retail environment.

Every member of this pool of consumers has travelled internationally in the six months prior to voting. Although the 2,000 Asia Pacific consumers do not experience these products first-hand, their approach towards this voting process, as a shopper buying a gift or a personal treat, gives us a huge wealth of data about how each product is perceived.

When the voting process has ended, m1nd-set analyses the scoring data and a finalist benchmark score is set for each category.

The finalists are announced to the industry, and all finalists can utilise the Travel Retail Awards Asia Pacific Finalist logo in their marketing and on packaging.

Finally, those recognised as winners or awarded a highly recommended accolade are announced and celebrated by the industry.

Those brands, airports and service providers can utilise Asia Pacific Travel Retail Awards winner and highly recommended logos in their marketing and on packaging. We also encourage all retailers to utilise the ‘Voted By Shoppers‘ winning logos at the point of sale.
