Loch Lomond Group’s Ben Lomond Gin will make its global travel retail debut with Kreol Travel Retail at Cochin Duty Free in India.
As reported, Kreol Travel Retail – part of the Kreal Group – has teamed up with Loch Lomond to distribute the distillery’s award-winning portfolio in select travel retail locations across the Indian subcontinent.
“We are honoured to debut Ben Lomond Gin, which received the Highly Commended status at the Scottish Gin Awards 2020 – the largest gin competition in the UK,” commented Lal Arakulath, CEO, Kreol Group.
Catherine Bonelli, Travel Retail Director, Loch Lomond Group, added: “We are happy to commence our travel retail debut of Ben Lomond Gin with our presence in India. We thank Cochin Duty Free for this initiative.”
Gin’s journey in India
Gin, which has its roots in Holland with the juniper-flavoured spirit Genever, became popular in India in the 19th Century when British army officers blended quinine, sugar and water to combat Malaria.
The eleven botanicals of Ben Lomond Gin are carefully selected and weighed with locally hand-picked blackcurrants, rowan berries and oranges added to imbue the gin with unique flavours.
After distillation in traditional copper pot stills, the gin is left to mature to allow the flavours to blend and create depth and character.
The Ben Lomond Gin bottle represents the area that inspired the gin – Loch Lomond & The Trossachs in Scotland.
