The 2023 TR Consumer Forum in Vienna, Austria, will take place from Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 June, TRBusiness and event partner m1nd-set can confirm, with a brand new sustainability focused event set to open the agenda.

Duty free and travel retail (DF&TR) stakeholders can now book their flights for the highly acclaimed forum, which is the industry’s only conference dedicated solely to the travelling consumer.

The three-day event will commence with a new ‘green’ element to the programme, in line with the organisers’ mission for greater commitment to sustainability within the global travel retail sector.

On Wednesday 21 June, delegates will be treated to a special sustainability discovery journey in the Green Shoots Exchange session.

This informal part of the forum, which will take place during the afternoon of the first day, will enable stakeholders to meet with newcomers to the travel retail industry – all of whom have a strong or holistic approach to sustainability, whether in the production process, packaging, partnerships or people policy.

The Green Shoots Exchange is a purpose-driven educational forum within the forum,” said Michael Barrett, Head of Events and Corporate Social Responsibility at TRBusiness.

“We want to provide a platform for newcomers to the industry that have a strong sustainable DNA to help them develop within the industry and grow the environmental, equitable and ethical business in travel retail.”

Green Shoots Exchange will conclude with a discussion among airports and their commercial partners about taking sustainability in global travel retail to the next level (more details will be released soon).

Information about how brands and service providers can get involved in this session can be found on the dedicated TR Consumer Forum website.

Day one (Wednesday 21 June) will conclude with an Opening Cocktail, ahead of the conference.

Day two (Thursday 22 June) will be crowned with a gala dinner.

The third and final day (Friday 23 June) will close with cocktails and informal networking in the conference venue.

As with previous iterations of the TR Consumer Forum, all coffee and lunch breaks will be held in the networking and exhibitor area where a selection of partner companies will showcase their products and services throughout the three-day event.

As reported in January, Vienna Airport’s Senior Vice President Center Management Philipp Ahrens welcomed the decision to hold the event in Austria’s imperial capital city.

“We are proud and delighted that the TR Consumer Forum has chosen Vienna as its next destination for a surely thrilling conference, as has been proven already in London and Limassol,” said Ahrens.

“Hopefully we will be able to welcome as many of you as possible, to enjoy Austrian hospitality combined with professional and valuable input, as well as great networking opportunities for all participants.”
