Bowmore 1965

Bowmore commissions two wooden cabinets to house the 1965 Vintage Washback Edition.

Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky has launched an exceptionally rare, limited edition whisky celebrating the legacy of its 240-year-old distillery.

Exclusively for DFS Group’s Masters of Wines & Spirits 2020 exhibition in Singapore, Bowmore commissioned two wooden cabinets to house the 1965 Vintage Washback Edition.

Master craftsman John Galvin designed and created these limited edition pieces using the authentic Oregon pine from Bowmore’s No.1 washback.

John Lomas, Head of Prestige, Beam Suntory commented “Bringing together this rare, awe-inspiring whisky with these amazing cabinets truly tells a special story about Bowmore. Each element of this limited edition shares a moment in time, reflecting part of a legacy dating back centuries. To bring this to DFS Masters of Wines & Spirits is the ideal opportunity to showcase and share what makes our whisky and distillery so distinctive and rare.”

‘DISTINCTIVE AROMA’

Each cabinet uses ‘unique wood’ and bears the distinctive marks of spirit interaction and of the iron hoops which once held it in place.

John Galvin, Owner, John Galvin Design commented: “Having the opportunity to create these cabinets from the actual materials which have shaped the whisky is a real privilege.  From the distinctive aroma embedded in the wood and the incredible patterns created by the spirit, this is an extraordinary way to bring the story of Bowmore to life.”

Each cabinet is exclusively available at DFS Masters of Wines & Spirits 2020 priced at S$60,000 ($43,185) and at DFS Changi Airport Terminal 3 (Departure Transit, Main Store, Upper Level) from 1 March 2020.

Ed Stening, Global Marketing Director at Beam-Suntory International Global Travel Retail said: “These two handcrafted masterpieces from John Galvin and team are an utter dream. That, combined with the iconic Bowmore 1965 really make this the ultimate in collector pieces. We are thrilled to partner with DFS Masters of Wine and Spirits to create two truly unique pieces for the Global Travel Retail collector.”
