Dufry supports United Nations Sustainable Goals campaign

Dufry Julian DiazIn a major ongoing development, the Dufry Group announced today that it is putting its considerable weight behind the #YouNeedToKnow awareness campaign at more than 80 airports across five continents – starting this month.

 

The world’s biggest DF&TR operator said this is the important next stage of its support for the initiative, following ‘successful trials at Geneva, Zurich and Heathrow airports late last year’.

 

DUFRY AND UN HAVE REACHED AN AGREEMENT

In a statement today, the company said it has now ‘reached agreement with the United Nations in Geneva’ to continue to raise awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as part of a campaign called #YouNeedToKnow.

 

The ultimate goal of this project is to highlight the importance of these goals to no less than two billion people by the end of 2017.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals as set out by the United Nations. The WHO says ‘the clock is ticking’ and the human race has just 14 years left to achieve these global goals and save the planet…

 

It also aims to encourage and inspire individuals to make a real difference by making small changes in their every-day lives to contribute to ‘a more sustainable and fairer world’.

 

For its part, Dufry aims to team up with its airport partners in 63 countries wherever possible to use the unique platform of global stores to add impetus and prominent exposure and visibility to the campaign.

EXPOSURE AT 80-PLUS AIRPORTS

Announcing this initiative today (18 July) Dufry management says it will roll out the campaign across no less than 80 airports around the world in a list that it says ‘continues to grow’.

 

This campaign will comprise a mix of creative print and digital advertising campaign visuals designed by Dufry which are specifically aimed at bringing home the significance and importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Commenting on the very worthy initiative, Julián Díaz, CEO Dufry said: “With over 29,000 colleagues and a footprint in 63 countries, we have a responsibility to ensure that we contribute to a better and more sustainable world for future generations.

Adding his comments, Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Geneva said: “People around the world need to know about the global goals and how each and every one of us can do something to be part of the solution in creating a safer, friendlier and healthier planet for all its inhabitants. It is up to us to spread the word around the world. This is our only home.”
