The third edition in the highly popular TRConnect webinar series boasts another powerful line-up of senior executives to address the global duty free and travel retail industry on China and the much anticipated return of the Chinese travellers.
TRConnect #3 will welcome speakers from China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working Abroad (CNSC), Chinese duty free shopper app Jessica’s Secret, digital marketing agency Dragon Trail Interactive, KPMG and TRBusiness webinar data partner, m1nd-set.
The webinar, which will take place on Tuesday 30 June at 14.00 CET, will address fundamental issues around Chinese international travel and provide exclusive insights on the shopper segment that has been a major focus for the industry in recent years; the all-important Chinese traveller.
Exclusive shopper insights from TRBusiness’ exclusive data partner, m1nd-set, compiled from up-to-the minute research being carried out during the month of June, will set the scene.
Business Development Head Anna Marchesini will share this unique perspective based on interviews with Chinese passengers who have travelled internationally in the past 12 months. The report will reveal their travel intentions and expected shopping behaviour when international flights resume.
Following the introductory presentation, China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working Abroad (CNSC) Deputy General Manager Evita Qu will address the industry on how CNSC is gearing up to serve returning Chinese nationals despite the current pandemic.
Qu will discuss some of the specific marketing initiatives aimed at driving sales in the post-Covid era, including how the retailer, which enables Chinese nationals to shop for up to 180 days following their return from overseas, plans to adapt in the face of dramatically reduced passenger numbers.
She will also share her perspective on how the government has supported the industry throughout the crisis and her own views on how shopper behaviour may change in the post-Covid world.
Anna Marchesini – m1nd-set, Evita Qu – CNSC, Anson Bailey – KPMG, Stephie Yang – Jessica’s Secret and Sienna Parulis-Cook, Dragon Trail Interactive to address the global travel retail industry on post-Covid China and the Chinese traveller.
Anson Bailey, Head of Retail and Consumer, Asia Pacific at KPMG returns to TRConnect with thought-provoking insights on what to expect from the Covid recovery period in China. Focusing on “Revenge Shoppers and Travellers from China”, Bailey will also share feedback from a number of KPMG’s brand and retailer partners on their experience and forecasts for the Chinese market.
After the exclusive breaking news announcement by Dubai Duty Free during the previous TRConnect edition with COO Ramesh Cidambi, TRConnect attendees can look forward to another TRBusiness exclusive in the next edition.
The successful duty free shopper app for Chinese travellers, Jessica’s Secret, which boasts more than 1.9 million users, will reveal plans on how the company has been preparing for the return of international travellers with its own partner-support initiatives. (More on this to follow soon).
Head of Business Development Stephie Yang will also share the company’s perspective on how travel shopping will resume and recover and provide insights and exclusive analysis on which categories they see performing well when international travel resumes, based on user data analytics from the Jessica’s Secret app.
Sienna Parulis-Cook, Associate Director Communications at digital marketing agency Dragon Trail Interactive will complete the comprehensive China focus with a unique perspective on how Covid-19 has changed the travel marketing landscape and the way that Chinese consumers use digital tools for tourism.
Parulis-Cook, co-author of the book ‘China, the Future of Travel’ released in 2019, is a leading authority on the Chinese digital landscape and travel trends. She will discuss which international tourism brands have employed the most effective approaches to digital marketing and communications on Chinese social media platforms during the crisis, and what new developments the virus is catalysing in terms of online travel sales and marketing in China.
