By Doug Newhouse |
ASUR has reported third quarter revenues up 16.44% to Ps.805.52m ($61.3m); passengers up 10.66%; and non-aeronautical revenues up 15.72%.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) operates airports in southern Mexico where aeronautical revenues rose by 8.81% in the third quarter and commercial revenues per passenger increased by 5.06% to Ps.71.25.
During the third quarter of 2013, total passenger traffic rose by 10.66%, domestic traffic by 9.41% and international passenger numbers by 12.02%.
Growth in domestic passenger traffic was driven by increases at Cancún (pictured above), Veracruz, Mérida, Villahermosa, Minatitlán and Oaxaca, while the 12.01% growth in international passenger traffic resulted mainly from an increase of 12.55% in international traffic at Cancún Airport.
By contrast, total passenger traffic at ASUR’s airports for the first nine months of 2013 registered an increase of 9.69%, reflecting increases of 8.66% in domestic passenger traffic and 10.50% on the international side.
GOOD RESULTS ACROSS THE BOARD
ASUR classifies commercial revenues as those derived from duty-free stores, car rentals, retail operations, banking and currency exchange services, advertising, teleservices, non-permanent ground transportation, food and beverage, and parking lot fees.
Breaking down the performances, ASUR appears to have had a good third quarter with a +23.74% increase in sales at its duty-free stores (primarily Cancun); retail operations accounting for a +14.53% increase; then F&B +10.95%; advertising +23.90%; car rental +11.25% etc, etc.
Meanwhile, total revenues for the nine=month period ended September 30 saw an increase of 4.87% to Ps.967.7m ($73.7m). This was due to a +7.87% rise in aeronautical revenues helped by the +9.69% increase in passenger traffic during the period.
There was also a +10.64% increase in non-aeronautical revenues helped by the following sales increase contributions: duty free stores +12.43%; general retail operations +8.39%; F&B +11.72%; advertising +13.96% and various other contributions.
