Dufry opens new Montego Bay Duty Free arrivals store
By Doug Newhouse |
Dufry has completed the opening of its new walk-through-style 115sq m refurbished Montego Bay Duty Free arrivals store at Sangster International Airport – effectively replacing the previous 10sq m offer.
In addition to creating a further six jobs at the airport, the new arrivals outlet takes passengers past a ‘specially chosen selection of products on special offer’ as they pass through the arrivals walkway.
MANY PRODUCTS ‘SPECIALLY SELECTED…’
The retailer says that the new outlet offers customers ‘key products at attractive and competitive prices’ with the traditional travel retail categories of international and local liquor, tobacco, international confectionery, fragrances and sunglasses all part of the commercial offer, with many products ‘especially selected for the passenger profile which travels through this airport’.
The retailer also claims that the competitive offers have also made the store popular with local passengers, as those using the airport can now take advantage of ‘considerable savings across categories’.
FIVE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP
Dufry worked closely with MBJ Airport Limited (MBJ) to create the new store – a partner company the retailer has collaborated with since 2012.
Commenting on this latest development, René Riedi, Dufry’s Division CEO for LATAM said: “We are really pleased with the outcome of this new store. Jamaica is an important operation for the company and we are delighted to be making strides to pave the way for its continued success.
“We hope our customers enjoy shopping in this new store as much as we did creating it with our airport partners.”
Adding his comments, MBJ Airports’ CEO Rafael Echevarne said: “We have seen continuous enhancement of Dufry’s commercial offering at Sangster International Airport in recent years.
NEW OCHOS RIOS STORE OPENING LATER THIS YEAR
“Our strong relationship is ultimately delivering a refined offering for the benefit of our passengers. We are extremely happy with this latest development and are convinced that our passengers will be pleased as well.”
Dufry adds that next phase of development in Jamaica will be the opening of a store in Ocho Rios which is expected to take place in the second half of 2017.
