Motta Internacional’s Attenza Duty Free retail brand has teamed up with Diageo Global Travel to partner in the opening of ‘the largest personalised Diageo exclusive store’ in South America in Quito Airport’s international departures concourse.
The new 387sq ft outlet is said to be ‘the first of its kind for Motta’, with the official inauguration presided over by Marcos Bibas, Commercial Director, Diageo Global Travel Americas and Erasmo Orillac, the CEO of Motta Internacional.
According to both companies, the new shopping area has been designed to both inspire and stimulate traveller interest with ‘eye-catching personalised branded wall bays’ which naturally feature Diageo brands which are traditional best sellers in the region, including Johnnie Walker, Buchanan’s, Old Parr and Zacapa.
‘COMMITMENT’ TO PERSONALISATION
Diageo’s Marcos Bibas described the new store as ‘a shining example’ of the liquor company’s commitment to personalisation and transformation of the shopper experience in travel retail.
He added: “The creation of such a unique proposition is testament to the strong and successful partnership we have developed with Motta Internacional.
DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH
“As partners for many years, we have together grown the category double digit and have increased the permanent spaces for the liquor categories in airports.
“We are like-minded in our approach and we believe that this unique proposition is an incredible opportunity to drive further growth for both Diageo and Motta Internacional in this key travel airport in the region.”
Both companies also make it clear that this experience is about stimulating and facilitating ‘a unique shopping experience’ where visitors to the store can have the opportunity to engage with the ‘Single Malts Club’ and ‘Experience Fine Drinking’ with several brands, including Diageo’s malts, white spirits and liqueurs such as Baileys.
NEW PRODUCT TASTINGS
The store is also being used to introduce consumers to Diageo’s latest travel exclusive innovations, including Johnnie Walker Island Greed and Baileys XC.
Adding his comments on the development, Erasmo Orillac, CEO, Motta Internacional said: “As one of the leading duty free operators in the Americas we are delighted to continue this long-term partnership with the largest producer of spirits in the world to offer one of the widest portfolios of world class spirits brands under one roof.
“We believe that this store sets us apart from other duty free operators and we look forward to delivering increased category growth through a well-balanced portfolio.”
This new store was opened officially on Wednesday 26 October 2016 and is currently trading 24 hours a day.
