China International Duty Free enters Dubai Duty Free with Yanghe Baijiu

By Charlotte Turner |

China International Duty Free (CIDF), a leading distributor of Chinese goods – mainly tobacco and alcohol – for the Chinese travel market has confirmed that it began distributing two variants of Yanghe Baijiu to Dubai Duty Free at the end of July.

CIDF claims to be one of the largest distributors of Chinese products to the global travel retail industry, supplying premium Chinese products, targeting Chinese travellers. “We work with all of the major duty free retailers globally especially focusing on those destinations known for Chinese tourism,” says CIDF.

After the launch of Yanghe’s TianZhiLan and M3 baijiu in Hong Kong International Airport through DFS, CIDF has now brought these two Chinese products to Dubai Duty Free.

Established in 1947, Yanghe is widely recognised throughout China as one of the leading manufacturers of baijiu spirits, according to CIDF. TianZhiLan (Blue of the Sky) and M3 are seen as Yanghe’s star products, which ‘are appreciated for their mellow and fragrant taste’.

Yanghe’s TianZhiLan and M3 baijiu will now be stocked with Dubai Duty Free.

“The listing of these two special variants in such a crucial duty free location as Dubai Duty Free represents the next step inCIDF’s wider distribution plan for Yanghe products across the international travel retail channel,” adds the distributor.

Yanghe, which exhibited at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition for the first time earlier this year, is popular among the younger generation of Chinese drinkers, says CIDF, and is the ‘most modern/fashionable baijiu brand today in China’.

We will be launching their best seller Tian Zhi Lan ( Blue of the Sky) which is the No. 1 seller in its price range (China Domestic Price 470RMB ~75USD) around the same time as the TFWA.

“The high end baijiu market, such as Moutai and Wuliangye has been undergoing a lot of doom and gloom over the last couple of years due to austerity measures in China,” says CIDF’s Amy Coghlan. “This has actually created a growing market for mid priced liquors such as Yanghe’s Tian Zhi Lan.”
