South African low-cost carrier Mango Airlines has joined forces with Tourvest Retail Services (Tourvest) to help create a best-in-class buy-on-board and boutique duty free retail solution.

The Tourvest technology and approach will include an omni-channel e-commerce solution, incorporating retail within the traveller’s booking journey. This is via the airline’s website or the customer’s own mobile device application.

Tourvest will introduce its inflight electronic point of sale device, allowing customers to purchase products inflight through multiple payment types in a ‘quick and efficient’ manner.

DEMAND FORECASTING TOOL

Product demand will be met through the use of Tourvest’s demand forecasting tool, together with the introduction of its warehouse management system and operational solution design to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

This will ensure product distribution to the aircraft is on time and in full within the multiple locations the airline services. This will also assist with on time departures. Comprehensive product and sales training will be provided to crew through face-to-face and online training engagements.

Noelan Rungasamy, General Manager Operations for Mango Airlines commented: “We are working well with the Tourvest team, drawing on their global retail expertise, innovation and technology, with the added benefit of their significant local market knowledge.

“We also want to further enhance our customer experience with new, innovative food and beverage products which will include a broader range of spirit miniatures, together with snack box options, among other new categories we are looking to introduce. We are therefore working closely with Tourvest’s new product development team to help achieve this objective.”

Clive Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Tourvest Retail Services added: “We are confident in our ability to enhance the Mango Airlines customer experience through unique, innovative, quality food and beverage ranges that provide choice, at a price point that offers value.

“Our digital approach allows us to capture rich data in order to adjust the retail solution to meet the exact needs of the customer, progressing towards personalisation, as well as being able to provide detailed management information and controls.”
