Cartier is bolstering its travel retail footprint in China with the opening of new luxury boutique at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport’s Terminal 3.

The store spans 190 square metres and boasts a central location in the terminal’s luxury retail space.

“Chongqing is an indispensable part of Cartier’s travel retail strategy in China,” said Virginie Martignac, Cartier’s Global Travel Retail Director.

“The new boutique at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport strengthens our strategic presence in this important domestic travel hub, allowing us to provide an elevated airport shopping experience to Chinese travellers and further enrich our travel retail footprint in the Chinese market.

“We look forward to sharing Cartier’s interpretation of the mountainous city, Maison’s iconic creations and exceptional hospitality with travellers in the upcoming years.”

Travellers are invited to discover the Maison’s ‘product universe’, in a luxurious and inviting setting that captures the quintessential Cartier aesthetic.

The design of the new boutique is described as a ‘synthesis of Cartier’s codes’, creating ‘an artful juxtaposition of softness and passion’.

Upon entering, travellers are greeted by a striking wall design featuring Cartier’s iconic panther fresco set amid the city’s distinctive architectural landscape, in a radiant colour palette of reds and golds.

In another nod to the dynamism of the city, the interior walls feature fluted patterns. The circular ceiling design, with its golden patina, adds a ‘charming touch’ to the overall space.

In the women’s area, shoppers can find jewellery, timepieces and accessories displayed against a champagne colour palette with contemporary chandeliers overhead.

The men’s zone champions natural elements, with a feature wall adorned with bronze-toned foliage for a sense of ‘tranquillity and freshness’.

The dedicated bridal area features a golden mesh panel showcasing overlapping mountain ranges.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is one of the busiest in Southwest China.

The municipality of Chongqing, located near the upper Chang Jiang River, is considered an economic powerhouse.

It ranks among the top five Chinese cities in terms of GDP in 2022 and is listed as ‘one of the most desirable Chinese domestic travel destinations in the post-pandemic era’, according to the Chongqing Municipal Development Committee of Culture and Tourism.
