Lindt and DFS’ bring ‘pick and mix’ to HKIA
By Doug Newhouse |
The Lindt & Sprüngli global duty free division has opened shop-in-shop pick and mix concept with DFS Group at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
According to the company, this highlights the company’s latest Lindt pick and mix in Asia as a wall feature for the first time.
Commenting on the development, Lindt said the new unit can be seen clearly from across the airport terminal and it hopes this will help to build shop penetration, while the pick and mix concept gives visitors to the shop the opportunity to try a wide assortment of Lindor chocolate truffles and pick the ones they like.
PERSONALISED GIFTING OPTIONS
The confectionery company says that customers will also be able to select gift cards to go with their selections and personalise pick and mix bags. These cards are Hong Kong themed highlighting the destination and seasonal events.
LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS ARE PLANNED
As a special feature, the shop will also feature a special area for Lindt Master Chocolatiers to provide live demonstrations showcasing Lindt’s traditions of craftsmanship, artistry and innovation later this year.
Commenting on the partnership, DFS Group’s Senior Vice President Food and Gifts, Thierry Canivet, said: “DFS continuously strives to create shopping experiences that surprise and delight our customers and we are proud to partner with Lindt to do just that with the new shop-in-shop at DFS, Hong Kong International Airport.
“This engaging approach to the food and gifts segment will provide travellers with a lasting memory of their travels and we look forward to what we are confident will be a successful new take on this exciting category.”
Peter Zehnder, Head of the Lindt & Sprüngli Global Duty Free division, said the Asian travel retail market offers considerable opportunities, with this new venture just one of a series of innovative initiatives planned by the company.
He said: “We are delighted to have launched our latest shop-in-shop concept in Asia and believe that there is a huge opportunity for Lindt in the region. Our well-known brand of premium chocolate offers a wide range of bestseller products, a continual flow of innovations and strong activations beyond ordinary price-offs to drive category sales.”
