Travel Blue on keeping pace with strong demand for new products post Covid
By Faye Bartle |
Travel Blue Group Managing Director Daniel Levin discusses the bounce back of business in Asia, following the pandemic, and how the company had to act fast to fulfil accelerating consumer demand as people started to travel again.
In this video interview, which is the latest instalment in our Singapore Shorts series produced on location at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference (7-11 May 2023) in partnership with The Bluedog Group, Levin tells us how delighted he is to be back at the duty free and travel retail industry show following a four-year break.
“After Covid, people were waiting for the second they could travel again – we saw that at the airports, where demand was crazy,” he said.
He mentions how supplying new products to keep pace with the uplift in consumer demand has been a challenge, but one the company was well prepared to rise to.
Levin also talks more about the Our Blue Way initiative, announced in the run-up to the Singapore show, which has seen the company swap 50% of its materials for sustainable alternatives (recycled and recyclable), as part of its vision to ‘lead sustainability in the global travel retail accessories market’.
In line with its sustainability initiative, more than 50% of Travel Blue Group products sold this year will be made from recycled or recyclable material, and the company is set on increasing this further ‘as fast as technology allows’.
At the Singapore show, the Travel Blue neck pillows and the group’s mobile accessories brand Lexingham were in the spotlight.
Travel Blue neck pillows are now made with a 94% recycled cover, 100% recyclable foam and 100% recycled packaging.
The Lexingham range utilises the latest technology with new True-Wireless earphones, power banks and chargers.
Investing in expansion had led Travel Blue Group to grow its global distribution network ‘considerably’ over the past five years and the company now has offices established across the Asia Pacific region.
“This part of the world, which I love, has suffered a lot with Covid,” said Levin. “During those dark times we worked hard to maintain morale in difficult conditions. Now the Asia Pacific region is bouncing back and this is wonderful to see.”
