AELIA-DUTY-FREE-WEBAéroports de la Côte d’Azur today opened the gates to Aelia Duty Free’s intriguing new store at Terminal 2, as the airport operator inaugurates its redeveloped passenger area.

The Terminal 2 improvements follow the conclusion of a modernisation programme at Terminal 1, which was finalised last year.

Lagardère Travel Retail’s new duty free store spans 840sqm, housing confectionery and gastronomic concepts alongside perfumes, cosmetics, wines, champagnes and premium spirits.

‘PLAYFUL NEW LUXURY’

Passengers can sample sweet treats from M&M’s or macaroons from Pascal Lac, chosen among the twenty best chocolatiers in France.

Premium cosmetics and skincare available to the traveller includes Bobbi Brown, Bourjois, Benefit and Caudalie, in addition to new arrivals of the likes of Crème de la mer, Jo Malone and Filorga.

Private collections from Tom Ford and Elie Saab add to a fragrance assortment featuring By Kilian, Diptyque, Amouage and Serge Lutens.

Meanwhile, travellers will be able to sample and create their own olfative experiences under a ceiling of suspended peonies via Grasse fragrance house Fragonard.

As travellers continue their journey, they can immerse themselves in corners dedicated to iconic brands’ Chanel, Dior and Guerlain, or enjoy “express” blow-dry beauty services in the Hair and Nail Bar by Éric Zemmour.

Filip Soete, Director of the Commercial Business Unit, commented: “In opening this new route within Terminal 2, we are able to culminate our vision to ‘offer the most remarkable experience within a European Airport’ with an emphasis on ‘sense of place’ and with brands such as Fragonard, L’Occitane, Lac, Gas – very much related to the Riviera, which will complement our existing offer of essential products related to travel or to France.”

The 840sqm store offers merchandise emphasising the Côte d’Azur’s ‘vivre faire’.

SMOOTHING THE PASSENGER JOURNEY

The store opening forms part of a redeveloped passenger route, complete with a single security check area.

Spanning 1,860sqm, the new unified security space represents a 279% increase in surface area, allowing passengers to move more freely through Terminal 2.

The space allocated to shops and restaurants has doubled – rising to 3,706qm (+162%) since the end of 2017.

Seating and passenger traffic zones have also been uprated by 88% to total 13,237sqm.

VIP lounge space has grown by 144% to total 1,415sqm, accompanied by a re-opened business centre.

IMPROVEMENTS CONTINUE…

New shops are set to open in room A of the Schengen zone throughout the Spring and before Summer, with work on room B supporting a future extension of the departure lounge to allow for additional shops and restaurants.

In total, 68 shops and eateries spanning two terminals will be available to Nice Côte d’Azur travellers when the work concludes.

Nice Côte d’Azur served 12.4 million passengers in 2016 and is France’s second busiest airport after Paris.

The Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur group manages Nice Côte d’Azur, Cannes Mandelieu and Golfe de Saint-Tropez airports.
