The Tax Free World Association TFWA is to introduce a Hosted Buyer Programme to support industry partners wishing to take part in the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes (26-30 September).

Retailers are encouraged to register for the Hosted Buyer Programme in order to receive assistance from TFWA to meet the accommodation costs of buyers and category managers attending this year’s event. Information on the initiative is now being shared with travel retailers worldwide.

TFWA is continuing with its plans to stage a world-class event that will bring the industry together and provide delegates with a much-needed opportunity to gather and do business face-to-face.

The Association continues to monitor the global situation as it develops and work closely with authorities in the city of Cannes to ensure the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference takes place in a safe and secure environment that safeguards the wellbeing of attendees.

Jaya Singh, President, TFWA said: “The recovery of our industry will depend on strong partnerships between stakeholders, and we are determined that our events will play a vital role in bringing businesses closer together.

MAXIMISING NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

“We trust our Hosted Buyer Programme will provide much-needed support to our retailer partners and enable both buyers and exhibitors to make the most of the networking opportunities that the TFWA World Exhibition and Conference will offer.”

Of the 279 participants in a recent TRBusiness flash survey, more than two fifths (47%) indicated they would attend TFWA Cannes (should the event go ahead) as a visitor and just under one third (29%) said they would take exhibition space.

Speaking to TRBusiness as part of a preview for the upcoming TFWA Hainan Special Edition event (21-24 June) Singh said: “We are still very much committed to hosting a live event this year and we have a number of initiatives in place to ensure that this is as valuable an event as ever. We’re conscious of the support needed by key decision makers for the event.

“Our Hosted Buyer Programme, which will provide practical assistance to industry partners looking to attend TFWA World Exhibition & Conference, will help ensure that the event brings companies together and strengthens the partnerships that are vital to ensure a rapid and sustainable recovery for our industry.

“The fact that there are a number of large-scale events scheduled to take place in Paris, Cannes and other parts of France during the second half of the year gives us considerable confidence that TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will be able to go ahead.”

According to a flash survey undertaken by TRBusiness in March, three quarters of DF&TR industry stakeholders indicated they would attend this year’s TFWA World Exhibition & Conference presuming the flagship trade show in Cannes goes ahead as planned.
