Denver Airport reports flat traffic in August

Denver Airport smallDenver International Airport handled 4,897,198 passengers in August, a fall of -0.8% compared 4,935,013 in August 2014, with the drop attributed to reduction in seat capacity by Frontier Airlines.

 

Year-to-date total passenger traffic also fell by -0.7% to 35,689,101 passengers compared to 35,939,588 in 2014.

 

By contrast, international passenger traffic decreased by -3.4% to 179,728 in August 2015 compared to 186,012 in the same month last year and it was also down by 2.5% in the first eight months of 2015 to 1,523,756.

International passengers using Denver’s customs facilities increased by 16% in August, while pre-clearance passengers from Canada plummeted by nearly -24%.

 

“Denver International Airport is exiting the busy summer travel season on nearly the same pace with last year’s record-setting passenger traffic, “said CEO Kim Day. “Most of our airline partners are experiencing continued growth in capacity and passenger traffic as we near the holiday travel season.

 

“Among United’s hubs in August, Denver saw the second-largest capacity growth, while Southwest Airlines saw its sixth consecutive month of double-digit passenger traffic increases.”
