Lagardère Travel Retail (LTR) reports that it has renewed its five-year contract covering the operation of three RELAY stores at Christchurch International Airport (CIAL) in New Zealand, plus two specialist shops including Sunglass Hut and tech2go.
The company said: “By offering new, exciting and innovative brands across the multi-user terminal, Lagardère Travel Retail will enhance and align the retail offer for the growing passenger numbers travelling through the airport.
“The retailer has successfully renewed and extended their agreement for the three existing RELAY stores, covering both the Domestic and International terminals.”
NEW STORES SAID TO HAVE BEEN RECEIVED WELL
Lagardère management adds that the RELAY stores carry ‘all the travel essential requirements’, such as books, news, confectionery and travel accessories, plus Lotto and NZ Postal services and these outlets will now be refurbished within the next 12 months.
Commenting on the RELAY renewals LTR CEO Matthieu Mercier said the partnership with Pacific Region says the partnership with CIAL has been ‘extremely successful’ since it began back in 2011 and he said the retailer is now looking forward to adding two more new brands to the overall retail mix.
He added that the introduction of the 40sq m tech2go outlet is the second such store in New Zealand to offer the brand’s ‘wide range of the latest on-trend technology and accessories’ for gifting or self purchase, comprising well-known brands such as Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Philips, Plantronics and Cygnett.
AIRPORT DESCRIBES FIT OUT AS ‘OUTSTANDING’
At the same time, the 40sq m Sunglass Hut brand will offer leading branded sunglass lines from well known companies such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Tiffany, Michael Kors, Tom Ford and others.
Commenting on this new development, Christchurch Airport’s Manager Terminal Customer Experience, Craig Dunstan said: “Our team is excited to see the stores open. Their modern, innovative fit out and offering is outstanding and further enhances our retail offering.
“The feedback received to date has been excellent and leaves us in no doubt that the stores will be very popular with the millions of visitors we welcome to the terminal every year.”
