Genting Dream enables mobile payments via Alipay

Asia’s Dream Cruises has partnered with online payment provider Alipay to activate a suite of mobile payment solutions for passengers at sea.
As of 24 September, guests onboard the firm’s luxury cruise brand Genting Dream are able to use their Alipay ‘mobile wallets’ to shop and dine, in addition to settling cabin charges or activating self-checkout options during their stay by pre-authorising charges to their accounts.
“Access to funds and a frictionless payment experience is paramount for our travelling guests, especially in today’s technology-driven, mobile-first environment,” commented Thatcher Brown, President, Dream Cruises.
“We are delighted to progress our long-standing partnership with Alipay by launching the full range of Alipay mobile payment options on Genting Dream; where our guests from the dual-homeports of Hong Kong and Guangzhou will enjoy the unparalleled convenience of instant checkout with Alipay wallets.”
The spot payment, self-checkout and auto-debit options are also available through Alipay HK, the new Hong Kong version of the platform that supports transactions in Hong Kong dollars.
WORLD DREAM INTRODUCTION
Dream Cruises says the the mobile check-out solution is also set to launch on World Dream, the cruise company’s newest luxury cruise liner, in November.
This builds on the success of Genting Cruise Lines’ partnership with Alipay, which dates back to 2015 when Genting Hong Kong’s Star Cruises became the first cruise line to accept Alipay spot payments.
Carl Su, Vice President of Alipay operator Ant Financial added: “As the first cruise line company to support Alipay, Genting Cruise Lines has been an important partner for Alipay in the continued pursuit of customer experience excellence.
“We are excited to provide a seamless and comprehensive payment experience for guests onboard Genting Dream. Alipay and AlipayHK users have the freedom to choose from a full-range of convenient payment options best-suited to their needs. Guests can travel worry-free and have an even more memorable cruise vacation. That is the common goal for Alipay and its partners.”
