Gimpo Airport handled 5m international PAX in 2017.

The Shilla Duty Free has secured the liquor & tobacco duty free contract at Gimpo International Airport, TRBusiness can confirm.

Lotte Duty Free and Shilla had been shortlisted for the five-year concession covering two stores spanning 733sq m.

Shinsegae Duty Free was understood to have submitted a bid but were ruled out of the shortlist.

Lotte took over the concession on a temporary basis in April, after previous incumbent City Plus withdrew due to ‘unsustainable losses’.

At the time the Shilla was shortlisted, a spokesperson said: “The airport is way smaller than Incheon, but it used to be the biggest and main gateway to the nation.

“Even though Incheon International Airport is now the nation’s gateway, many overseas travellers including Japanese and Chinese still use it. The concession is certainly meaningful.”
