Lotte Duty Free reports that a total of 200 employees and co-workers – including CEO Jang Sun-wook – have participated in the tenth charity exercise to provide volunteer services, coal briquettes and supplies to those in need recently.

The company said that the volunteer activities began in Jeju after which a nationwide relay has operated between Busan and Seoul from 8-10 November to deliver 50,000 items and services.

CHARITABLE PROGRAMME

The retailer says that this exercise spanned three days in total, with the programme running in Jeju (8th November), Busan (9th) and Seoul (10th).

In addition, the Charlotte Volunteer Service – which is an independent volunteer group consisting of employees of Lotte Duty Free – also provided a large number of charity services. The Lotte Group and its employees have conducted several campaigns to provide heating and other suppliers to the needy for several years now.

WORTHY INITIATIVE…

Commenting, Lotte Duty Free stated: “Prior to this, on the 8th, employees of Jeju branch including Kim Joo-nam, Lotte Duty-Free Shop Jeju Corporation visited Jeju City’s one-stop support centre for seniors and donated 1,000 kilograms of rice and other necessities.

“On the 9th, Choi Byung-rok, a member of Lotte Duty-Free Shop, Busan Branch, and Kimhae Airport employees visited vulnerable families and elderly living alone and low-income families living in a mixed-use village in Busan Donggu and donated 10,000 briquettes.”

Lotte Duty Free’s Jang Sun-wook added that despite the poor market trading conditions this year, the company remained committed to providing its volunteer activities, while also helping to make ‘society a warmer place’.

This follows the recent news that Lotte has become engaged in sponsoring domestic and overseas social contribution activities, including the treatment of heart disease in children in Vietnam, a market where the company has now established a duty free presence in the marketplace [click here for more details: https://www.trbusiness.com/regional-news/asia-pacific/lotte-supports-sick-children-in-vietnam-with-vital-surgery/129130-Ed].
