Changi Airport Group backs 2020 Travel Retail Awards as Headline Sponsor
By Charlotte Turner |
TRBusiness can reveal that Singapore Changi Airport has confirmed its support of the 2020 Travel Retail Awards – the only consumer-voted awards dedicated to the duty free & travel retail industry – as Headline Sponsor for the third consecutive year.
This follows the news that Furla has confirmed its support as a Platinum Sponsor also for the third consecutive year, joining fellow Platinum Sponsors Mars Wrigley International Travel Retail, Foreo, Distell and Duty Free Innovation (DFI).
When Changi began its long-term partnership with TRBusiness and m1nd-set in terms of its support of the Travel Retail Awards back in 2018, Lim Peck Hoon, Executive Vice President of Commercial at CAG said that consumer insight has always guided their strategy and vision.
“Passengers’ needs and aspirations are key drivers of our travel retail strategy and have always guided us in our search for new brands, exclusive launches and the most novel travel retail concepts to enhance the overall Changi experience.”
“In this highly competitive travel retail environment, we look forward to the interesting consumer insights that these awards will bring.”
POWERFUL TRAVEL RETAIL AWARDS PROMOTIONS IN STORE
Changi Airport, together with its retail and supplier partners have fully supported the initiative through powerful unified promotions across its terminals. It was also able to add to its already impressive trophy cabinet in May with a double win at the Travel Retail Awards.

Changi Airport won two airport awards at the 2019 Travel Retail Awards; one for Best digital and social media offer and another for Best airport for retail environment (as voted for by millennials).
There are now just three weeks left to enter the 2020 Travel Retail Awards.
The second edition of the awards programme this year saw a marked surge in interest with double-digit growth in the number of participating companies, in recognition of the awards’ legitimacy following the successful launch of the consumer awards in 2018.
The third edition in 2020 is expected to attract even more interest; the awards programme and ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday 12 Mary in Singapore during the annual TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition and Conference, is now firmly established as one of the major events in the industry calendar.
NEW AWARDS FOR 2020
As announced in July, the 2020 Travel Retail Awards will see three game-changing new categories: Best Green Initiative at an Airport, Best Airport Food and Beverage Offer and Best Cruise Ship Retailer.
Nominations for the Best Green Initiative at an Airport can be submitted by the airport or any of its commercial partners including retailers and food and beverage operators.
The 2020 Travel Retail Awards will support two environmental charities, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Travel Retail Awards are organised in partnership with Swiss research agency m1nd-set, the industry’s leading consumer insights company. A panel of more than 5000 consumers, recruited from m1nd-set’s database of international travellers judge each award category for both the products and airports awards.
