Fraport increases majority shareholding in Lima Jorge Chávez Airport to 80%
By Luke Barras-hill |
Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport AG has upped its stake in Lima Airport Partners S.R.L (LAP), a consortium which runs Jorge Chávez International Airport.
The purchase from long-running stakeholder AC Capitales Infrastructure Fund means Fraport AG now owns 80.01% in LAP – up from 70.01%.
It comes during an important expansion and growth phase for the Peruvian hub, which includes a second runway, new passenger terminal and related infrastructure and facilities.
LAP began managing Lima Airport under a concession in 2001, when passenger traffic was approximately 4.1 million. Last year, the airport welcomed 22.1 million passengers (+7.3%).
In April this year, traffic climbed by the same percentage to 1.8m, while Fraport’s Brazilian airports at Fortaleza and Porte Alegre returned growth of +12.1%.
